Russia launched 200+ missiles, drones at Ukraine infrastructure: Zelensky
On Sunday, Russia launched a drone and missile attack on Ukraine in what’s being seen as the largest barrage in recent months, officials said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on X that Russia used nearly 140 missiles of “various types” over the last week, as well as more than 900 “guided aerial bombs” and more than 600 strike drones.
Zelensky said Russia was attacking its infrastructure in Rivne, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn and Odesa.
“Russia terrorists are once again trying to intimidate us with cold and blackouts, repeating their actions and trying to get results from them,” he wrote.
The attack came as Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine’s power generation and energy infrastructure ahead of the winter.
Ukrainian defenses shot down 144 out of the 210 air targets.
Zelensky said a drone attack killed two people and injured six others, including two children. Two more were killed in the Odesa region, The Associated Press reported.
“The entire world sees and knows that we are defending ourselves against absolute evil, which understands no language but force,” Zelensky wrote. “We need unity the world needs unity. Only together can we stop this evil.”
The war in the region is nearing the three-year mark. Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb. 2022 and while Zelensky pushes for cease-fire negotiations, the outlook is grim.
