Base (Layer) Camp

After the last run of the day, it’s time to indulge in some après-ski moments. Do as Bella Hadid and work with your base layers, not against them. If you select the right ones (keep them sleek and chic!), they can make for a cute, slope-to-street outfit pairing. Just add a cozy puffer jacket and chunky knee-high boots, that are ready to face the slosh and snow, and your mountainside lunch or Glühwein just got a whole lot cooler (theoretically speaking!). Don’t forget the retro-inspired sunglasses and stretchy headband, either!

Alpine Cowgirl

Kendall Jenner proves that simplicity (and a little western flair) can be one of the easiest ways to do après-ski style. Even if you don’t have grand getaway plans to an alpine village this ski season, her outfit works for any winter locale, be it an upstate retreat or slick, city streets. A white T-shirt and black leather pants (both closet mainstays in their own right) act as your foundation pieces, but when paired with a spectacular, faux fur coat and croc-embossed cowboy boots, magic is made. Giddy up!

Snuggly in Shearling

Even though Katie Holmes’s winter playground is New York City, her recent street style looks suggest otherwise; this plush, shearling coat feels apropos for storming the streets of downtown Telluride or Tahoe. True to Holmes’s personal style, you’ll want to keep things easygoing and down-to-earth (it is vacation, after all!) when replicating; a gray cashmere sweater, relaxed blue jeans, and sporty, white sneakers are just the ticket (lift pass or not). Keep other accessories minimal—sometimes, a classic tote bag, sunglasses, and knit beanie are all you need.

Recharge Mode: On

Headed to the spa or the nearest open fire to warm your toes after a non-stop ski day? Jennifer Lopez has the right idea. Be sure to bring along a Nordic-style knit cardigan; this is where Fair Isles, cable knits, and intarsia motifs are all fair game. If you choose a heavyweight yarn, shawl and wrap silhouettes are the perfect outerwear layer, atop a turtleneck and jeans, on those warm and sunny bluebird days. (Of course, they can be easily worn underneath a coat for chillier temperatures.) Finish things off with a no-brainer accessory: Ugg boots.

Snow Bunny Sophistication

Another winning look from Kendall Jenner that puts the posh in piste, she forgoes the oversized layers and goes straight for something streamlined and tailored. Although her jacket is vintage Alaïa, you can still recreate the idea with a structured, off-center buttoned blazer. Styled over stirrup snow pants, a one-piece ski suit, or simply, black leggings, then layered with a form fitting turtleneck, leather boots, and the pièce de résistance, a fur-trimmed hat, it’s an elevated look that would fit right in with the Courchevel crowd.

City Girl Goes Chalet

As an Aspen regular during the winter months, Hailey Bieber is a reliable source for après-inspired outfits. We love this recent ensemble, proving again that a show-stopping coat (hers is vintage Ralph Lauren, and oh-so-fabulous) can truly be your best mountainside wardrobe companion. Nour Hammour’s Evita coat does the trick atop a slightly-cropped T-shirt (or sweater). When coordinated with low-slung, baggy jeans and soft, suede loafers, you’ll be riding that Rocky Mountain Style High, your whole trip long.

Knit With It

Queen of cool, Chloë Sevigny’s recent outing at the Sundance Film Festival sparked some major ideas on just what post-ski wear could look like, and it’s extremely glamorous. Combining elements of sport and spice, this is what you want to wear out to dinner after a long day, carving the fresh powder. In our opinion, a knitted, matching set is always a no-brainer—it’s equal parts warm, comfortable, and packing-friendly. Simply style your skirt set with an extra-toasty parka and leather, knee-high boots for a fresh spin on chalet-chic.

Cozy to the Max

Behold: the no-fail teddy coat. It’s the holy grail of winter outerwear. Naomi Watts knows that the OG style from Max Mara is the one that you should invest in, however we love that she went for a taupe, instead of classic camel. Whichever hue you choose, it certainly makes the best throw-on-and-go fashion piece, whether you’re rushing straight for a hot toddy after last chair or have weekend brunch plans out with friends. For the ultimate in curated coziness, pair back to a warm, black sweater, knitted trouser pants, and swap the heels for a walkable, leather boot.
