The end of the year is rapidly approaching and restaurant chains are dishing out limited-time offerings as a way to entice diners during the holiday season.
El Pollo Loco, for instance, has brought back its Overstuffed Quesadillas.
The quesadillas, folded into a pocket, rather than just in half, come in three varieties: chipotle chicken, with fire-grilled chicken, Jack cheese, salsa roja, sour cream, and pico de gallo; shredded beef avocado, featuring shredded beef, Jack cheese, avocado salsa, onion, cilantro, and avocado slices; and poblano chicken, with fire-grilled chicken, Jack cheese, creamy cilantro dressing, grilled poblano peppers, pico de gallo, and guacamole.
The quesadillas are available a la carte, or in a combo with chips and a drink.
The grilled chicken chain has also brought back its chicken pozole, made with grilled chicken and hominy, in a broth with tomatillo, garlic, onion and chili. It comes in large and small portions and is accompanied by chips or a tortilla.
Farmer Boys has two new limited-time items.
The Cheese Lover’s Burger Melt features a beef patty topped with two kinds of American cheese, pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, thousand Island dressing and pickles, sandwiched between two slices of Texas toast.
The Cinna-Roll French Toast Platter comes with two cinnamon rolls prepared French toast-style, two eggs prepared how you like, and either two strips of bacon or two sausage patties.
Fall flavors also figure into Del Taco’s new limited-time dessert and drink.
The chain is offering a cinnamon roll shake and Café de Olla, also flavored with cinnamon, along with brown sugar. The Café de Olla is available hot or iced.
Sonic is offering a limited-time burger and a dessert.
The Steak Butter Bacon Cheeseburger includes a beef patty topped with steak butter, two slices of American cheese, bacon, grilled onions and mayo.
The chain is also offering Fried Cookie Dough Bites à la Mode.
The limited-time offerings continue over the next couple of weeks.
The Enchirito will return to Taco Bell Nov. 17, and McDonald’s, which is currently offering the McRib — perhaps for the last time — will offer a new limited-time burger and dessert next week.
The Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with cheese features a quarter-pound fresh beef patty, two slices of American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, Roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce and smoky sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun, and the Oreo Fudge McFlurry blends vanilla soft serve with hot fudge topping and Oreo cookie pieces.
On Nov. 15, Wendy’s is reportedly swapping its current limited-time strawberry Frosty for a peppermint-flavored one and introducing an Italian mozzarella chicken sandwich and cheeseburger, along with garlic fries.
The Italian mozzarella items come topped with marinara sauce, fried mozzarella and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
Burrito bargain
In the spirit of its founders, Mike and Mary Vasquez, and in appreciation of its guests, Miguel’s Jr. is offering a Founder’s Day deal on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
On that day, guests can purchase a bean, rice & cheese burrito or bean & cheese burrito for just $1.99. The deal is good all day at all locations while supplies last.
New England delicacy
Lobster pot pie is on offer during Bluewater Grill’s Second Tuesday Tasting, postponed to Nov. 15 due to Election Day.
Bluewater’s version was created by Jasper White, New England chef and author of “Lobster at Home,” and includes Maine lobster claw and knuckle meat, cream, potato, red bell pepper, sweet onion and mushrooms with a pastry topping.
It comes accompanied by New England chowder or Caesar salad and is paired with glasses of Chalk Hill Sonoma Chardonnay and Four Graces Willamette Valley Washington Pinot Noir.
Cost is $55 per person, a $15 savings.
Bluewater Grill is located at 26700 Ynez Court in Temecula.
