The Smart Meat Thermometer My Dad Can’t Stop Using Is 30% Off Ahead of Father’s Day
Growing up, my family always cooked a big dinner on Sundays. As the mercury climbed, my dad set out to make those meals a spread of only grilled or smoked ingredients. We all contributed to a smoker for Father’s Day many years back, but I don’t think his collection was complete until my sister gifted him the Meater Plus thermometer.
An important tool year-round (think: whole roasted chicken and holiday beef tenderloin), the Meater thermometer truly shines during grilling season. It’s essential for long-term and short-term smoking, and my dad hasn’t made a recipe on the smoker without the nifty tool since he got it a year or so ago. I couldn’t help but think of him when I saw the Food & Wine-beloved thermometer on sale at Amazon, just ahead of Father’s Day.
Meater Plus Wireless Bluetooth Meat Thermometer
What makes this tool incredible is its smart design (in fact, it’s our favorite wireless thermometer on the market). The thermometer itself is a small, 5-inch probe that my dad can stick right into whatever protein or ingredient he is cooking. There are no wires involved — everything gets tracked through its Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. That means he doesn’t have to constantly monitor the temperature outside.
It works up to 1,000 feet away with no obstacles, or around 165 feet if a few walls or other barriers are involved. All my dad has to do is monitor from the free app. And the probe doesn’t just measure the ingredient’s internal temperature — it also monitors ambient temperature. That’s key for my dad for smoking, since you really do need to maintain a specific temperature for low and slow results. Both our team and my dad love the thermometer’s ability to accurately gauge when your food might be done by using the app. There are different options to choose from that help with the cooking process, though it’s all customizable if my dad is aiming for a different internal temperature than what the app recommends.
He’s owned the probe for a little over a year, and it’s still working well. It comes with a sleek wooden block case that’s slim enough to put in any drawer. It does require a AAA battery, but my dad always has those on hand.
I’m not sure my dad could have asked for a better thermometer. Not only does it ensure ingredients like meat are cooking safely, but it also guarantees that nothing gets overcooked. Considering all of its smart features, it’s well worth its price. And with the 30% discount, it’s a steal you don’t want to pass up — and my dad would definitely agree.
