Rob Dillingham’s NBA Draft Suit Was a Crystal-Embellished Collaboration

Congrats are in order for Rob Dillingham!

Last night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the Hickory, North Carolina native was selected eighth in the 2024 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs—ultimately landing with the Minnesota Timberwolves via trade. Like countless NBA hopefuls before him, Dillingham, who played college basketball at the University of Kentucky, carefully considered his draft-day look. As he prepped for the event, Dillingham welcomed Vogue into his hotel room in Midtown Manhattan.

“It’s a custom, all-black suit [with] some sparkles and a little bit of color,” he says of his bespoke blazer and trousers, styled with a crisp white shirt. The 19-year-old guard collaborated on the look with L.A.-based brand Seventh heaven, helmed by designer John Ross. “I knew I wanted a black suit; I looked up inspiration from other clothes and showed Seventh Heaven my ideas” he adds. The look—which Dillingham paired with a classic tennis necklace and a gold Richard Mille watch—features substantial crystal beading around the wrists and ankles that fades up the length of the sleeves and pant legs. Beaded cross motifs bedeck the body of the blazer.

For the occasion, Dillingham opted for his signature box twists and a mix of two fragrances: Bond No. 9 Gold Dubai and a Baccarat scent.

A noted fashion fan—”it’s a way to express yourself without talking,” he says—Dillingham describes his everyday style as “chill and laid back,” and isn’t partial to any one label. “I ain’t going to lie, I like all the brands,” he says, rattling off a list that includes BAPE, Supreme, and Dior. As for his thoughts on today’s most stylish NBA players? “I’d say Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander], Jalen Williams, and Jared Vanderbilt.”

Joined by his mother, father, sister, and brother—as well as manager Rico Guerra and agent Lucas Newt—Dillingham left us with this before departing for the draft: “Not a lot of people get this opportunity, so it’s a blessing. It doesn’t even feel real.”
