A man mistakenly took the groceries of his neighbour, who was waving at him in the hall. Comedian Mohanad Elshieky usually keeps contactless when an order is delivered. He received a message from the delivery driver instructing him to go to the entrance to collect it – the door to his apartment complex was closed. As he reached the main gate, he saw a man waving at him and collecting a bag from him. He later realised it contained his neighbour’s groceries. The two later met in the lift where things were awkward.

The internet is definitely not new to hilarious stories around food deliveries. One man took to social media to narrate a funny incident after ordering a bite from his usual takeout place.
Elshieky immediately thought of him to be the delivery person. He opened the door and thanked the man before closing the door and walking away with a bag he collected from the man.
Funnily, Elshieky noticed the man still waving at him. However, he walked away after kindly waving back, hoping to have his food. In the video uploaded on Instagram, the man stated, “I waved back again. I was like look at this. You know making new friends amazing.”
Well, the events that followed revealed the secret behind the wave. On reaching his apartment, Elshieky opened the bag to examine its contents. To his surprise, it was just a bunch of ingredients. At first, the man was perplexed.
“I opened the bag expecting my food to be there and I found a bunch of ingredients. I was like is this one of those restaurants that expect you to make your own food? I don’t like this as a concept. I don’t know how to cook this s****,” he said in the video.
Seconds later, Elshieky had an epiphany. Putting the incidents together, he realized that the man who kept waving at him must have been a neighbour who forgot his apartment keys. “I just took his stuff. I thought I was getting my food delivery but I was just doing crime,” said the man. Unfortunately, Elshieky could not find the neighbour downstairs despite searching for him.
Later, he met the man in the elevator. Unsurprisingly, things were awkward between the two. “And then 2 weeks later I saw my neighbour in the elevator. And he did not make eye contact with me at all. Cause in his mind he’s like this is the most dangerous man in America. Like I literally took his bag out of his hand and then waved at him like a psychopath. So I’m enjoying the tension you know,” he said.
The incident cracked up many on social media. One stated, “Haha this is gold. Haha every meeting is going to be hella awkward now! ‘I was just doing crime! And waving back at him like a psychopath!’ Haha.” Another claimed, “Best ‘dasher’ story ever.”
