LA Fitness Membership Cost 2024
If you’re looking to upgrade your gym membership, LA Fitness is a compelling option. The Southern California-based chain is designed like a standard gym with tons of equipment and popular workout classes, giving you some of that high-end feel without the ultra-luxury pricing you see from clubs like Equinox and Life Time Fitness. To help you decide if this gym is right for you, we’re doing a deep dive into LA Fitness membership costs, dues and initiation fees included.
The good news is that, no matter how much you pay monthly, each LA Fitness membership comes with a long list of amenities. The exact perks may vary depending on location, but most clubs include racquetball and squash courts, group fitness classes, cycle classes, and a whirlpool spa. Some locations, like Scottsdale, AZ also have basketball courts, an indoor pool, and a sauna. Others have on-site childcare, a huge perk for parents. Read on for the details about LA Fitness pricing, and whether or not the amenities are worth the membership costs.
How Much Does an LA Fitness Membership Cost?
There are no long-term contracts at LA Fitness, which means you must choose from one of two monthly rates. You can either select a lower monthly rate with an initiation fee, or a higher monthly rate without an initiation fee. Here’s a more detailed look at what you’re paying for in each membership option:
LA Fitness Membership (With Initiation Fee) ($25 a month).
This membership includes unlimited club visits, use of all club equipment and amenities, and access to group fitness classes.
- Initiation Fee: $25
- First Month Dues: $25
- Last Month Dues: $25
- Total Initial Payment: $75 — This includes the first month’s payment, last month’s payment, and initiation fee. There’s also an annual fee ($59), billed two weeks after sign-up and every year thereafter, which would take the total initial sign-up price to $134, without tax. After that, you’ll pay $25 a month for this membership tier.
LA Fitness Membership (Without Initiation Fee) ($40 a month).
This membership includes the same things as the basic membership, plus access to LA Fitness, Esporta, and City Sports clubs nationwide, and includes a free guest pass for each visit.
- First Month Dues: $40
- Last Month Dues: $40
- Total Initial Payment: $80
- Although this membership does not have an initiation fee, the $59 annual fee will be billed two weeks later (and every year thereafter), bringing your total initial payment to $139. After that, you’ll play $40 a month for this membership tier.
To get a better sense of what your specific pricing will look like, you can build your own membership here, schedule a tour, or discuss in more detail with an LA Fitness rep.
Additional Fees
To take your membership to the next level, you can add amenities, such as towels ($5) and guest passes ($20 for one guest per visit for Basic members; again, Premier members are allowed to bring one guest for free per visit to LA Fitness, according to a customer service representative). Personal training sessions are also available for an additional charge — ask your LA Fitness about their specific rates.
As previously mentioned, LA Fitness pricing is generally the same wherever you go, but if you want to try out a club before committing, you can opt for a seven day guest pass free of charge.
